Job prospects for individuals with training in the use of architect CAD software programs are fairly high compared with other fields currently utilizing CAD programs. However, candidates for positions are still expected to have at least 2 years of post secondary education, with a strong emphasis on drafting, mathematics, architecture, knowledge of the varieties of materials and methods and terrains involved in construction. Experience with the use and applications of architect CAD software are also expected. Ideally, a four-year university degree is preferred, but is not absolutely necessary for a career in this field. Jobs are available from entry positions up to managerial positions involving the supervision of workers, departments, etc. There are also many freelance workers offering their services using architect CAD software to companies and individuals on the Internet all over the world.

Training in this field can be obtained in a variety of ways. One can begin in high school with courses dealing with related topics to architect CAD software and drafting. After graduation from high school, there are a number of choices one can make, including technical schools, junior colleges, university and even post-graduate work. Generally, college and university programs are preferred.
